When you are trying to get pregnant there are many things that you need to consider to make sure your body is in the best shape. This will ensure that even before you conceive you are in the best health and that your baby develops properly.

The food and nutrients that you put in your body are very important when you want to create a new life. This will prepare both your body for the future as well as make sure that your body can give all that is necessary to have a healthy baby.

One of the nutrients that has been publicised greatly for the effects it can have on the baby’s development in the womb even in the first few days. The nervous system will benefit greatly and the reason why it is so important to take both before and during the first trimester is that this is when the brain, spine and nervous system develop.

Even food manufacturers have caught on to this, which is why a lot of cereals and other foods now have folic acid put into them. You should not just assume that this is the case though and should still take supplements if like many you do not have a varied diet.

It is not only the mother that should be taking precautions; it is also the father as the sperm needs to be healthy so that there is a better chance of the woman conceiving. Having zinc in the diet of the potential father will make sure that this is made possible.

Selenium is one nutrient that is often overlooked which is a shame as it plays a vital part in reproduction. You can get this from your diet if you eat foods that are rich in it. Such foods include fish, Brazil nuts and eggs.

Omega 3 has been widely publicised in the past decade as it promotes healthy brain function, as well as helping some children and teenagers to improve their concentration. This is just as important before a baby is conceived as it will help the brain develop in the womb, as well as helping to regulate a woman’s hormones.

Although the nutrients that I have mentioned are present in many foods it seems that because many people now have a busy lifestyle meaning that they turn to convenience foods on the go, rather than making meals that contain all that is good for them. This is why there are vitamins on the market for both men and women who are ready to try for a baby.

People who take drugs, smoke or have high alcohol consumption are at higher risk of not being able to carry the baby full term or even getting pregnant in the first place. If you do conceive then you will not be giving your baby the best chance to develop properly. This is why you should give up if possible before you plan for a baby.

Make sure that your diet contains all the essential nutrients and you can be safe in the knowledge that you are doing the best you can for any child, or children you bring into this world before they are even created. Make sure you make time for yourself and for your partner so that you too can be prepared for the changes your body will go through.

Fertility Issues With Trying To Get Pregnant After 35

Are you over 35 and considering the prospect of trying to get pregnant? It is a scary time in my opinion and, for me, left me with lots of questions about whether my husband and I would even be able to start a family. We have only been married 2 years so we would like to have had a little bit longer, but I am now 36 years old and we don’t want to leave it until too late. The thing that is motivating me is that I don’t know what our fertility chances are, so in order to learn a little bit more I started researching on the internet and have found the following.

Where do I even begin with the fertility issues that women are affected with. Here are just two of the factors that can affect a womans’ fertility. 1. Body Weight -either underweight or overweight can cause problems with fertility chances. Underweight women may not be able to conceive and if they do, the fetus/baby requires a lot of nutrition that underweight mothers may not be able to provide. (Well that’s not the problem I’ve got…) Overweight women on the other hand, can have difficulties conceiving due to incorrect hormone levels which are caused by the obesity.

2. Problems with the Ovaries & uterus. Obviously this is a major one. In the ovaries you can have problems like fibroids, PCO (Poly Cystic Ovaries) and twisted ovaries to name just a few. And a common uterus problem is endometriosis which can cause such things as diminished ovarian reserve, ovulation disorders, and low progesterone level. Because I am overweight and had endometriosis I know that there are some issues that I may have to deal with. But first we’d like to see if we can have babies naturally. Wouldn’t we all?

But don’t forget, it’s not just the women that have the fertility issues. Men can have fertility issues such as: low sperm count and low sperm motility, injury or chronic diseases, sperm blockage or even an STD. And then both of us can have our fertility affected by other factors such as malnutrition, a depressed mental condition and endocrinology factors.

It is because of all these other factors in our life that we have decided to take an holistic approach to trying to get pregnant after 35. We are aware that our chances of conceiving naturally, diminish as we get older so we are going to get our bodies and our minds right first. I think that’s the right place to start.
